Hatch-a-Dot Sundrop costs

OK, we all know that in order to Hatch-a-Dot, you need Sundrops (apparently Dots gift these to each other during the romancing) - but how many are required?

On this page we will explain the current Sundrop requirements to Hatch-a-Dot with another Keeper's Peridot.

Let’s take a look at how the amount of Sundrops required to Hatch-A-Dot are calculated—we will examine the Base Hatch Cost (BHC) only to begin with, meaning that the two Dots are located very close to each other so as not to attract a distance multiplier for the cost (which is explained a little further down).

The Sundrop BHC is dependent on the hierarchy (rarity) of the Traits of both Dots combined, including whether a Dot has a ’missing’ Trait (e.g. a legacy Dot from the soft launch, prior to global release), or a Locked Trait (Locked because of Keeper Level).

So, here goes:

Traits Sundrop cost
1* Trait 20
2* Trait 175
3* Trait 750
4* Trait 4000
Missing Trait 10
Locked Trait No cost, because you cannot get a locked Trait using Sundrops alone.

Next, we have the Traits for the two Dots in the previous picture.  There are total of 3—1* Traits, 4—2* Traits, 6—3* Traits and 1—4* Trait. Doing the math we have (3*20)+(4*175)+(6*750)+(1*4000) which gives a total of 9260 Sundrops required as the BHC.

If the other Keeper’s Dot has Locked Traits, they do not affect the BHC as you cannot get them without paying to unlock them with Peridough.

If the two Dots are separated (distance wise) a multiplier is introduced which will increase the BHC as the distance apart increases - We will look at this next:

A Distance Multiplier is a factor that is applied to the BHC, depending on the distance between the two Dots.  In simple form it looks like this:

Distance between you and a Habitat Dot (Wild or otherwise) < 100m - multiplier = 1.

Distance between you and a Habitat Dot (Wild or otherwise) > 100m - multiplier = 2.

Distance between you and Friend when Hatching < 1km - multiplier = 1.

Distance between you and Friend when Hatching > 1km - multiplier = 2.

All Visitor Dots - multiplier = 2.

After much investigation, we think that we may have finally unravelled the Peridough costs, so let's take a look at them next.  There is a base Peridough cost for each Trait that is unlocked, based on the rarity of that Trait.  Then there is a factored Peridough cost, also based on Trait rarity, for any Traits that are locked:

So, for Peridough, simply add up the totals for each Unlocked and Locked Trait for each Level (both Dots!) and there you have it. Here’s a small real game example to demonstrate:

OK, so here we have two Dots and the Peridough cost requirement to Hatch-a-Dot.

Below the Peridough costs is a ‘peek’ at just some of the Traits that are Locked; you can ignore this bit and scroll down to see the full Trait list and which are Locked.

What we have here are 8 x 1* Unlocked Traits, 2 x 2* Unlocked Traits, 2 x 2* Locked Traits, 1 x 3* Unlocked Trait and 1 x 3* Locked Trait.

Doing the math we have (8 x 2)+(2 x 18)+(2 x 30)+(1 x 75)+(1 x 100) giving a total of 287 Peridough required in this instance.

Once again, the distance multiplier will be applied depending on the distance the Dots are apart.

NOTE:

The above is based on limited information we have at the time of writing and may be subject to change as more data becomes available—these are the ‘normal’ Hatch-a-Dot costs which may be changed without notice for Events or future updates.

We are not guaranteeing the figures here but as far as we can tell with the data set we have they appear accurate at this time.
